Who we are
pepecoin.finance launched in 2026 as an independent editorial project with one narrow focus: the Pepe (PEPE) meme token. Not crypto in general, not a hundred altcoins, just the green frog on Ethereum and the questions people actually type into search boxes about it. What is it? Is it safe? Where can I buy it in my country? Why does the price have so many zeros?
We are not the official PEPE website, and we have nothing to do with the anonymous team that deployed the token in April 2023. We are writers and editors who got tired of meme-coin pages that were either breathless hype or thinly disguised presale ads. So we built the site we wanted to read: plain language, real dates, links to primary sources, and honest notes about risk.
The tone is a little playful, because PEPE is a meme and pretending otherwise would be odd. The facts are not playful. If we say something happened on a certain day, there should be a source for it on the same page.
What we cover
The site is built around a set of guides that each answer one job well. The explainer on what PEPE is covers the token’s origin, Matt Furie’s Pepe the Frog character and why the two are not connected. The PEPE tokenomics breakdown walks through the 420.69 trillion supply, the burns and who holds the coins. The safety check separates contract risk from market risk and looks at the August 2023 multisig incident.
On the practical side, we publish a step-by-step guide to buying PEPE, a comparison of exchanges that list PEPE, a wallet guide with the official contract address, and live tools such as the PEPE price page and the PEPE calculator. Twelve country pages, collected on the countries hub, explain local rules, taxes, payment rails and exchanges. Eight exchange reviews dig into licences, fees and security history.
We also cover the confusing corners: copycat Pepe tokens, the difference between PEPE and Pepecoin (PEP), and how PEPE compares with Dogecoin and Shiba Inu.
How we research
Every page starts from a research file built from primary sources: the token contract on Etherscan, exchange announcements and fee pages, regulator registers, SEC filings and official tax guidance. Market data comes from public sources such as CoinGecko, and every snapshot in the text carries a date. Live numbers, like the current price or 24-hour change, are never typed into articles. Our widgets fetch them from public APIs in your browser, and if those APIs are down, the numbers simply don’t show.
When something can’t be confirmed, we say so or leave it out. A good example: we found no formal public statement from Matt Furie about the PEPE token after May 2023, so we don’t invent one. Research and drafting are assisted by AI tools and checked by editors against primary sources. The full rules, including how we score exchanges and fix mistakes, are in our editorial policy.

Independence and the exchange link
We have no affiliation with the anonymous PEPE team, with Matt Furie, with CEX.IO or with any other exchange. No exchange or project sees our pages before they go live, and nobody pays to be ranked higher in our comparisons or reviews.
There is one thing we want to be upfront about. Many pages carry buttons such as “Open account” that point to CEX.IO. We chose to link one exchange in those buttons because it gives readers a direct next step, and we picked CEX.IO because it has been running since 2013, holds NMLS registration #1804170 and US money-transmitter licences, and is registered with the UK FCA for anti-money-laundering purposes (firm 1007192). That link is our choice, not a partnership. It does not change what we write about CEX.IO or any of its competitors.
It also does not mean CEX.IO suits everyone. It does not serve India or Canada, it is closed to new sign-ups in the EU and EEA, and its own buy-PEPE page says PEPE is not available to US-based users. Our country pages spell this out, and our exchange comparison lists local alternatives that may fit you better.
Languages
The main guides are published in English, Turkish, Indonesian and German. These aren’t word-for-word translations. Each version is adapted for its readers, with local currency examples, local payment rails such as havale/EFT, QRIS or SEPA, and the regulators that matter there, like SPK in Turkey, OJK in Indonesia and BaFin in Germany. The facts stay the same across languages. Service pages like this one are in English only.
Contact
Spotted an error, have a question about a guide, or writing a story about meme coins? Email us at support@pepecoin.finance. We usually reply within two working days. Corrections are always welcome, and we fix confirmed mistakes quickly. More details are on our contact page.
One last thing: we will never ask for your seed phrase, private keys or exchange login. Anyone who does, while claiming to be us, is a scammer.
