The Pepe coin all time high is $0.00002803, set on 9 December 2024, about 20 months after a frog-themed token appeared on Ethereum with no team, no roadmap and no presale. Getting there took one of the wildest first months any meme coin has had, an insider scandal, a long winter and a pair of big US listings. Getting back down took less time than most holders expected.
This page is the history: launch date, launch price, every major peak and crash, and what moved the price each time. All figures are dated and sourced, mostly from CoinGecko and Binance's monthly PEPE/USDT candles. For today's quote, use the live PEPE price page; for the news behind daily moves, see PEPE news.
Pepe coin all time high: price and market cap
CoinGecko records the PEPE all-time high at $0.00002803 at 08:30 UTC on 9 December 2024. CoinMarketCap shows a slightly higher $0.00002825, because each aggregator blends a different set of exchanges and a fast spike looks a little different on each. Both are correct for their methods; we use CoinGecko's figure throughout this site.
The all-time high market cap follows from the supply. Multiply $0.00002803 by 420.69 trillion tokens and you get about $11.8 billion. Decrypt reported on the day that PEPE had passed $11 billion and overtaken Uniswap and Litecoin by market cap. Our PEPE vs DOGE vs SHIB comparison puts that peak next to theirs.
Right now PEPE trades from that peak, according to .
To return to the ATH from the 13 October 2026 snapshot price of $0.00000405, PEPE would need to rise about 6.9 times, back to a market cap near $11.8 billion. Whether that is likely is a separate question, and one we treat as scenarios on the PEPE price prediction page.
When was Pepe coin launched, and at what price?
The PEPE contract was deployed on 14 April 2023 at 14:51 UTC, in Ethereum block 17,046,105. You can still see the creation transaction on Etherscan. The deployer's wallet was funded from a Bybit hot wallet, which is about all anyone knows about who made it; the team has always been anonymous.
CoinGecko's earliest price, and its all-time low, is $0.000000055142 on 17 April 2023. That is the closest thing to a "launch price". Some articles say trading began on 18 April; the exact time of the first liquidity add has never been pinned down, so treat the launch window as 14 to 18 April.
Was there a Pepe coin ICO price?
No. There was no ICO, no presale and no private round. The official site describes a stealth launch where 93.1% of the supply went straight into a Uniswap liquidity pool and 6.9% into a multisig wallet for future listings. That does not mean everyone started equal: Binance's listing notice in May 2023 warned of signs that insiders bought around 7% of the supply within minutes of creation. The full allocation story is on our PEPE tokenomics page.

The big cycles: from first pump to record peak
Spring 2023: three weeks to $1.6 billion
PEPE's first run is still one of the fastest any token has made. Within about three weeks of deployment it reached a market cap of roughly $1.5–1.6 billion, peaking on the day Binance listed it, 5 May 2023. Fortune called it a rise fuelled "by pure memetic power". There was no product, no utility and no team announcement behind it. Just a famous frog, a big round supply number and a crowd that wanted the next Dogecoin.
Summer and autumn 2023: the hangover
What goes up three weeks in a row comes down for four months. PEPE slid through the summer, then the multisig incident on 24 August 2023 made it worse: about 16 trillion tokens moved from the team wallet to exchanges, the price dropped around 16% in a day, and the remaining team said three former members had acted without permission. By September, Binance's monthly low was $0.00000060. The October burn of 6.9 trillion tokens produced a short bounce but did not change the trend. Our PEPE risk guide covers what that incident means for holders today.
2024: the cycle that made the record
The broader meme-coin wave of early 2024 lifted PEPE to $0.00001084 in March and $0.00001725 in May, each time a record. Then came November: Robinhood and Coinbase listed PEPE on the same day, Upbit added a Korean won pair the next, and the price ran to a monthly high of $0.00002597. Less than four weeks later, on 9 December, it set the all-time high.
2025–2026: the long way down, and a partial rebound
From February 2025 PEPE was more than 60% below its peak. A May 2025 rally reached $0.00001632, then faded. By early November 2025 press summaries called PEPE the worst-performing top meme coin of the year, down about 72.5% year to date. The 10 October 2025 market crash produced a wick to $0.00000279, and the slide continued into mid-2026, with a monthly low of $0.00000223 in July. By October 2026 PEPE had climbed back to around $0.000004, the same month Canary Capital amended its filing for a spot PEPE ETF. As of 13 October 2026 that ETF was still not approved or trading.

Hop inThe listings effect: do exchange listings move PEPE?
Look at the timeline again and a pattern jumps out. PEPE's first peak landed on the Binance listing day. The run to the all-time high started the day Coinbase and Robinhood added it. Big listings bring a wave of new buyers who could not easily buy before, and the anticipation often does as much as the listing itself.
But the pattern has two catches. First, the price often peaks on or soon after the listing, not months later: by the time the news is public, the people who bought on rumour start selling. May 2023 is the clearest case, with the top on listing day and an 86% slide after. Second, both big listing rallies happened during strong markets for crypto overall. It is hard to separate the listing effect from a rising tide, so don't treat a new listing as a guaranteed pump. Our PEPE exchange guide lists where it trades now, and the Coinbase review covers the US listing in detail.

PEPE crashes and drawdowns, in numbers
A drawdown is how far the price fell from a peak. The recovery column shows how much it would have to rise to get back, which is the part people forget: a 90% drop needs a ten-fold gain to undo.
| Period | Drawdown | Rise needed to recover | Time from peak |
|---|---|---|---|
| May 2023 peak → Sep 2023 low | −86% | +614% | About 4 months |
| ATH → Oct 2025 crash wick | −90% | +905% | 10 months |
| ATH → Jul 2026 low | −92% | +1,157% | About 19 months |
| ATH → 13 Oct 2026 | −85.5% | +590% | 22 months |
PEPE is not unique here. On the same October 2026 snapshot, DOGE was about 89% below its 2021 peak and SHIB about 94% below its own. Among the large meme coins CoinGecko tracks, PEPE was actually the least drawn-down. That says more about the category than about PEPE: meme coins rise on attention and fall when attention moves on.
What PEPE’s price history teaches
Three things stand out from three and a half years of data. First, the moves are enormous in both directions. Twice PEPE has fallen more than 85% from a peak. Second, the biggest rallies coincided with new access, such as Binance in 2023 and Coinbase and Robinhood in 2024, during friendly markets. Third, the supply never changed much: burns removed only about 1.7% of tokens, so price swings came from demand, not scarcity. If you want to see what different market caps would mean for the price, the PEPE calculator does the arithmetic, and our page on whether PEPE can reach 1 cent shows how far the math stretches.
PEPE's history is a meme-coin textbook: a launch with no team and no product, a record that rode new listings and a strong market, and drawdowns that wiped out most of the gains. None of that predicts what comes next. It does tell you what a normal year can look like, so size any position as if the next 85% drop is already on its way. If you decide to buy, the how to buy PEPE guide walks through it safely.

CoinGecko’s all-time low of $0.000000055142, recorded on 17 April 2023, is the closest thing to a launch price. There was no ICO or public presale price, because the project describes itself as a stealth launch. Early trades happened in a thin Uniswap pool, so the very first prints are rough.

How many x did PEPE do from launch to its peak?+
From CoinGecko’s all-time low to the all-time high is roughly 500 times. Almost nobody captured that, because the low printed in a tiny pool in the first hours of trading. From the May 2023 Binance-listing peak to the December 2024 high, the move was closer to 6 to 7 times.
