Quick answer

If you want to buy PEPE coin by country, the token is the same everywhere: one Ethereum contract, one supply, one global market. What changes when you cross a border is everything around it, from the regulator and the licence your exchange needs to the currency pair, the payment rail and the tax bill. This hub covers 12 markets where people actively buy PEPE. Each has its own guide built from regulator pages and live exchange data we checked on 13 October 2026.

Short on time? Find your country on the map or in the table, open its guide, and come back to our step-by-step guide to buying PEPE or the PEPE exchange comparison if you live somewhere else.

Pick your country on the map

Hover or tap a highlighted country to see roughly what a million PEPE costs there, then click through to the full guide. Every guide opens with a live widget showing the PEPE price in local currency, so you don’t have to convert from dollars in your head.

12 countries at a glance

This table is the one-screen version. “Main local venue” means an exchange whose PEPE market we confirmed through its own public data, not necessarily the only option. The last column shows CEX.IO’s status, because it is the exchange our buttons point to and we would rather you know its limits up front.

A few patterns jump out. Lira, rupiah, rupee, real, Aussie dollar and euro buyers can all trade PEPE directly in their own money. Czech buyers get a koruna price through Bitpanda’s broker rather than an order book. Pakistan has no local PEPE order book, so most people buy USDT peer-to-peer and swap it for PEPE, although Binance P2P also carried direct PEPE/PKR adverts on the day we checked.

What changes from country to country

The pair and the price

PEPE in local currency is not just the dollar price multiplied by an exchange rate. Each local pair has its own order book. On our 13 October snapshot of CoinGecko-tracked venues, the US dollar carried 33.4% of PEPE’s trading against national currencies and the Turkish lira 30.2%, almost level. The euro had 17.0%, the Korean won 15.4%, the rupiah 1.0% and the Indian rupee just 0.2%. Deep markets track the global price closely; thin ones can drift. That is why buying PEPE in Turkey feels very different from buying PEPE in India, even though India tops the global adoption rankings.

The payment rail

Every country has a favourite way to move money, and the best local exchanges are built around it. Turks fund accounts by havale and EFT bank transfer. Indonesians use QRIS codes, virtual accounts and e-wallets such as GoPay, OVO and DANA, covered in our guide to buying PEPE in Indonesia. Brazilians use Pix, Australians PayID and Osko, Canadians Interac e-Transfer, Indians UPI, and the Dutch iDEAL, now becoming iDEAL | Wero. In Pakistan, P2P adverts are paid with Easypaisa, JazzCash and the Raast instant-payment system. Matching your exchange to your local rail is usually the cheapest move you can make.

The licence

Who licenses the exchange matters more than which logo is on the app. In the EU, MiCA has applied since 30 December 2024 and its transition ended on 1 July 2026, so only authorised providers may serve EU residents. Elsewhere the picture is patchier: Turkey’s SPK keeps a provisional list rather than final licences, Pakistan’s PVARA had issued no-objection certificates but no full licences we could find, and Brazil’s central bank gave foreign platforms until around 30 October 2026 to move Brazilian clients to an authorised entity.

In all 12 countries we cover, owning PEPE is legal or at least not prohibited. The real differences are subtler. Turkey bans paying for things with crypto but allows trading. In India and Pakistan crypto is not legal tender, and both regulate it through anti-money-laundering and service-provider rules. In the US, SEC staff said in February 2025 that meme-coin transactions of the kind it described are not securities offerings, a non-binding view that helped PEPE onto mainstream apps, as our guide to buying PEPE in the USA explains.

Canada is the odd one out in a different way. PEPE is legal, but many provinces cap net purchases of altcoins other than BTC, ETH, LTC and BCH at CAD 30,000 over 12 months for ordinary investors, which our page on buying PEPE in Canada breaks down. In Europe, the question is less “is it legal” than “is my app authorised”: see buying PEPE in Germany, buying PEPE in the Netherlands, buying PEPE in Spain and buying PEPE in Czechia for the MiCA-authorised options in each.

PEPE tax rules compared

Tax is where the 12 countries diverge most. Some barely tax small investors; India taxes every rupee of profit at a flat rate. The table below gives the headline rule for individuals as of October 2026. Every country guide explains the details and the filing deadline, and none of this is tax advice.

Headline crypto tax rules for individuals (as of 13 Oct 2026)
CountryHeadline ruleWatch out for
TurkeyNo crypto-specific tax in forceProposed 10% withholding withdrawn Mar 2026
USAProperty: capital gains1099-DA basis reporting from 2026
IndiaFlat 30% + 1% TDSNo loss set-off
Indonesia0.21% final per sale1% on foreign platforms
GermanyTax-free after 1 yearDraft would change it from 2027
CanadaHalf of gain taxableOr business income if trading
BrazilExempt up to R$35,000 sales a month15–22.5% above that
AustraliaCGT, 50% discount after 12 monthsFor resident individuals
CzechiaExempt under CZK 100,000 proceeds a yearOr after 3 years’ holding
NetherlandsBox 3 deemed return6% at 36% above €59,357 (2026)
SpainSavings base 19–30%No holding-period relief

Some of these rules are on the move. Germany’s finance ministry published a draft on 30 September 2026 that would tax coins bought from 2027 at 25% regardless of holding period, though it is only a draft. Pakistan’s rate depends on the Finance Act 2026, whose crypto clauses we could not confirm, so it is left out of the table; our guide to buying PEPE in Pakistan covers what is known. For thresholds and filing dates, see the guides to buying PEPE in Brazil and buying PEPE in Australia.

CEX.IO availability by country

CEX.IO has operated since 2013, is registered in the US under NMLS #1804170 and is registered with the UK’s FCA for anti-money-laundering purposes (firm 1007192). We are independent of it. Its reach varies a lot across our 12 countries, so here is the honest version.

Supported, with caveats: Turkey, Indonesia and Australia can sign up through its Nevis entity, CEX OVRS LLC, but it holds no local licence there and offers no lira, rupiah or Aussie-dollar pair. PEPE trades only against USD, USDT and USDC. Pakistan and Brazil are also not on its unsupported list, but face regulatory risk: Pakistan’s PVARA requires providers to hold an approval, and Brazil’s central-bank deadline for foreign platforms falls around 30 October 2026.

Not available: India and Canada are on its unsupported list. In the EU, including Germany, Czechia, the Netherlands and Spain, CEX.IO no longer onboards new users because it does not hold a MiCA authorisation (its application with Spain’s CNMV is pending), and existing accounts are withdrawal-only. In the US, its buy-PEPE page says PEPE is not available for US-based users.

Our take

The best way to buy PEPE is almost always the local one: an exchange your regulator recognises, a pair in your own currency and the payment rail you already use. Global platforms are a backup, not a default. Whatever route you pick, check the contract address, start small and read is PEPE safe? before you size a position.

Questions people ask

Is PEPE coin legal in my country?+

In all 12 countries we cover, owning PEPE is legal or at least not banned. What differs is who supervises the exchanges, which apps are authorised and how gains are taxed. Turkey bans paying with crypto, and India and Pakistan state that crypto is not legal tender, but holding and trading are allowed.

Pepe coin is from which country?+

PEPE has no home country. It is an Ethereum token deployed on 14 April 2023 by an anonymous team, and the frog itself is Matt Furie’s cartoon character from Boy’s Club, though Furie has nothing to do with the token. That is why PEPE trades the same way everywhere and only the local rules differ.

Where can I buy PEPE coin online in my local currency?+

Local pairs exist in most of our 12 countries: PEPE/TRY on BtcTurk and Paribu, PEPE/IDR on Indodax and Pintu, PEPE/INR on CoinDCX and WazirX, PEPE/BRL on Mercado Bitcoin, PEPE/AUD on CoinSpot and PEPE/EUR on Bitvavo or Bitpanda, for example. Pakistan is the exception, where buyers mostly go through P2P.

Why is the PEPE price slightly different in each currency?+

Each local pair has its own order book, so the lira or rupee price reflects local supply and demand plus the exchange rate. Thin markets such as INR can drift further from the global average than deep ones such as TRY or USD.

Which countries can use CEX.IO for PEPE?+

Of our 12 countries, Turkey, Indonesia and Australia are supported but have no local licence or local-currency pair. Pakistan and Brazil are supported with regulatory risk. India and Canada are unsupported, EU residents cannot sign up, and PEPE is not offered to US users.
